About Me

I’m Darren Sample, and having spent the last 22 years in the industry have decided to setup my own Freelance Quantity Surveyor / Consultancy. I am based in Portsmouth on the South Coast but can operate nationally. I offer a professional and affordable service for contractors (both subcontractors and main contractors), commercial & private clients, developers and home owners. Offering the flexibility of being able to work on both a short or long term basis, adapting to your individual needs. Many clients require a Freelance QS for a particular project or task so that there is no ongoing cost liability once the project is complete.

I have over 20 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, having undertaken a Quantity Surveying Degree at The Nottingham Trent University between 1994 – 1998, with my third year within the industry as a Trainee for Wates Construction Ltd. Since Graduating in 1998, I have risen through the ranks of Assistant Surveyor through to Managing Surveyor / Commercial Manager, whilst also achieving Chartered Surveyor status during this time.

I have spent the majority of time working for Main Contractors, however, can adapt to all situations. I have experience working with various types of contract, JCT, NEC, GC Works, Bespoke contracts etc.
