Canon Row

Client : Parliamentary Estates

Contractor: Willmott Dixon Interiors Ltd

Value: £45m

Role: As Senior Principal Surveyor I lead the commercial team for Willmott Dixon from the pre-construction phase, through the enabling works and upon successfully converting the tender into a full contract then went onto seeing the project through to completion on site.

The project was secured under the SCAPE framework and utilised an NEC 3 Option A Priced Contract with Activity Schedule. Undertaking the £45m refurbishment and redevelopment of Canon Row within Parliamentary Estates at Westminster was a huge challenge both construction wise and also logistically, having to manage the project within the parliamentary estate, whilst neighbouring the Shadow Cabinet Offices during Brexit. The project included major construction works to accommodate an HV Substation, heritage repair works, along with a complete strip out and refurbishment of the 120 year old building.

The final account was agreed two weeks before completion of the project, and was seen as one of, if not the most successful project and handover the estate had ever seen.
